1. What’s your nickname?
2. Three words to describe you?
Dedicated, Organised and Committed.
3. How long have you been studying fitness?
I’ve just completed my Certificate IV in Fitness. I’m SO excited to start this journey & hope to further my studies in either Yoga or Pilates in the next couple years.
4. What’s your favourite workout?
Anything that gets me sweating! I love/need such a variety in my training but my favourite would be Strength/Weights and Pilates
5. What’s your favourite post workout snack?
I like to do my workouts in the morning so my first meal is usually around lunch. I love a big salad or roasted veggies afterwards. Otherwise I’ll make a quick protein smoothie (frozen banana, coconut water/almond milk, mixed berries, maca powder, greens powder & Vida Glow plant protein powder choc/vanilla. I eat when I’m hungry, I don’t follow any strict pre/post routines.
6. How do you stay motivated?
Ahh the million dollar question! Honestly I don’t.. motivation for me comes AFTER training. It’s the discipline and organisation you need to stay in routine. If I haven’t planned out my week and thought about when I’m going to have a session, it’s then very easy to slack off. WE ARE ALL HUMAN. Especially with my work where the times/days that I am working change day-to-day at late notice…Basically any free day I make sure I put aside that time for myself.
7. Cardio or weights?
WEIGHTS!! I’m glad the stigma around ‘weights make you look manly’ is disappearing. I feel so strong after a strength session and I still love to include Cardio and other types of training because it’s important to me to be balanced but my priority at the moment is definitely gaining more muscle and leaning up.
8. Who is your biggest inspiration, and why?
Fitness inspiration would hands down be Chontel Duncan (@chontelduncan) complete boss babe that really has worked so hard! She is the founder of HIIT Australia, has multiple gyms and just recently joined the Sweat Team alongside Kayla Itsines (yet another Aussie boss babe). I’ve been following her for years and she’s always uplifted me, motivated me and kept it 100% real on social media. She’s just amazing! I’m so glad she’s gaining some more recognition for all the positive things she has been working towards.
9. Fun fact about you?
I’ve been modelling for almost 10yrs, I’m going on my FIRST overseas holidays in January and I was a dancer/cheerleader for 12yrs!!
10. What can’t you live without?
MUSIC. Life is so bland without a tune to groove to. I think because of my dance background and being around music my whole life it’s just apart of me. Music brings people together it’s amazing how powerful it is and how it can make you feel so many emotions.
11. How would you describe your job to a child?
Human Coat-hanger haha. Also now, helping people become their best versions of themselves.
12. If you’ve had a bad day what do you do to cheer yourself up?
I get outside or move my body! My workouts are definitely my release and I know when I am regularly moving my body I feel so much better, my headspace is clear and I’m a lot more productive. HOWEVER, there are times when going to the gym is the last thing I wanna do, so I like to just chill out and be around people who make me feel good :)
13. When do you feel most balanced?
Hands down when I have a routine. I aim for around 5-6 days a week where I am at the gym or being active. Some think that’s excessive but it’s not the case when you realise that working out isn’t a chore. I exercise for my health, for my wellbeing, for my job. I am so lucky to have a body that moves when I tell it to and the sooner you realise that, the sooner you can make a positive change and make this a lifestyle over a fad diet.
14. How would you define Happily Active?
Moving your body regularly because you want to, not because you feel you need to.
15. If you could be anyone else for a day who would it be, and why?
Me, in 20 years time (41) and seeing what kind of things I get up to in a day..What job am I working? Where do I live? Do I have my own business? Am I a reflection of what I’m currently working towards? That would be pretty cool.
16. What do you always have in your fridge?
Lemons, Almond milk, Carrots & Hummus.
17. I’m happiest when…
I feel in control of my life, and working productively towards my goals.
18. Summer or winter?
SUMMER. The days are longer and the fruit is tastier!!
19. You’re a new addition to the crayon box. What colour would you be and why?
‘Linen white’ because my wardrobe literally consists of white blouses and shirts. The combo just works every time! Paired with black/denim jeans or distressed boyfriend jeans, funky slides/sneakers and you’re good to go!
20. What’s your favourite quote/mantra, and why?
‘If you do what you’ve always done, you’ll get what you’ve always gotten.’
I love this because it reflects those feelings of being in a ‘rut’ or repeating the same actions and/or behaviours but expecting change. There’s always new challenges you can set yourself, a higher purpose than just living your day to day life. In terms of fitness, you have to change it up if you want results, you have to maintain discipline if you want to form the habit. Enjoy feeling UNcomfortable, enjoy seeing the change within yourself and your thoughts, most of all enjoy the time you are alive, fit and healthy.
